Start Pro, Start with DSLR!

Okay folks, there is a few new DSLR in the market for the newer generations who had passion of to cease unforgettable moment by taking fantastic pictures. Last time, teenagers have a DSLR because he or she wants to take photography as a hobby or for working purposes. Nowadays, some teenagers are more interested in photography due to poisoning of the seniors and also famous organizations like Canon (not Cannon or bazooka), Nikon (not Nikkon!) and Sony had created beginners DSLR for starters.

Canon EOS 450D:
Price: Approx. RM 3,300 with EF-S 18-55mm IS
DCM rating : 84%

The Canon 450D is a very good beginner camera for starters and a upgrade from 400D by having a Image Stabilizer kit lens and 12.2MP and also a Live View mode. Its body short-cut buttons are quick accessed to adjustment and user friendly. The only draw back is the EOS still have the "plastic" feel of the body. As far as I know, all Canon EOS body does not have a motor, its just that all Canon Lens have a built in motor.

Nikon D60:
Price: Approx. RM 2,600 RM 2,100 with AF-S 18-55mm VR
DCM rating: 83%

Well, the D60 is almost like 450D except for it had 10.2MP and both also includes an anti-dust system that incorporates a self-cleaning sensor unit that shakes off dust. Same as the D40 and D40x, it doesnt have a built-in motor, it means that it cannot use good old cheap lens like 50mm f/1.8. Nevertheless, Nikkor and third party lenses has modified and create new lens with motor just for these cameras.

Sony A350:
Price: Approx. RM 2,999 with 18-70mm Kit lens
DCM Rating: 84%

Whopping 14.4 MP, Live View and tilting 2.7- inch LCD screen. Picture quality is slightly better than 450D and yes, they also have dust and shake reduction. The weaknesses is the handling of the camera is not comfortable (even more plastic feel) and dials, buttons are hard to control. Most importantly, Sony G lenses and Carl Zeiss lens are at cut throat prices.

It all depends what you want.. whether you wants a good camera feel or its features. All the above camera able to take good photos. If you are serious about photography, you might want to consider Nikon and Canon as they provide the most choice of lenses.

My advice is to go to the nearest camera shop and try out all the products.
